Laura Wilkinson is a communications and public affairs strategist with more than 20 years of experience as a trusted advisor to leaders on complex business, reputation, and policy issues. As the Founder & Principal of Purpose Communications Consulting LLC, Laura counsels clients on issues and crisis management, integrated media strategy, thought leadership, executive communications, social media, employee engagement, and stakeholder outreach.
Laura has a diverse background, having served as a communications and public affairs professional across a range of public and private sector organizations. She most recently served as the Director of Communications at EVgo, where she oversaw all external communications for the nation's largest public fast charging network for electric vehicles. Before joining EVgo, Laura served as Senior Manager of Public Affairs at Gap Inc., where she led global social, environmental, and policy-oriented communications campaigns for the Fortune 500 company. Previously, she served as a Senior Media Relations Specialist for Corporate and Public Affairs at Ketchum, advising clients across the firm's global client base. Laura previously served as Press Secretary for U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein of California, where she primarily focused on promoting the Senator's energy, environmental, and appropriations agenda. She also held several external affairs roles at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a leading bipartisan national security think tank based in Washington, DC.
Laura has deep experience in clean energy and environmental issues; corporate sustainability and social impact; labor and workforce issues; international trade and foreign affairs; and transportation and infrastructure issues.
Laura earned her undergraduate degree in International Relations from Brown University, and a master's degree from Johns Hopkins University in Political Communications. As a feminist growing up in Los Angeles, Laura proudly graduated from Marlborough School, the city's leading all-girls school.
